Your long term business success depends highly on keeping your best employees. Generally, managers across the board will agree that employee retention in a small, or large, business setting is crucial. Keeping your best employees means higher levels of customer satisfaction, a happier work place, and a deep sense of belonging among the work family. Retaining your best employees means that managers will spend less time looking for replacements, investing in new training, and losing valuable experience and skills. Here you’ll find several tips on how to retain your best employees to help grow your small business.

Make very clear what’s expected of your employees. When employees don’t really know what’s expected of them, they begin to feel uncertain. When an employee is simply drifting without any direction it makes them feel unproductive and unsatisfied. Avoid this by letting everyone know what’s expected of them.

Invest in the kind of supervision that your employees receive. This is a critical aspect in retaining your employees. It’s not enough for a supervisor, much like a parent, to be well liked. In addition to providing clarity in expectations, a supervisor must provide feedback, meetings, must be clear about salary expectations and basically give their employees a structure where they can work to fulfill their potential.

Give your employees the freedom to speak their minds. If an employee has a grievance that is not heard, it can definitely lead to resentment. Not only should grievances be heard, but also employee suggestions and ideas should be sought out. This not only works to help retain employees but it also builds employee loyalty. When employees feel like they are contributing to what’s going on in the company they feel like they are more invested in their place of work.

Individuals like to put their skills and talents to use, even if it’s not in their job description. This means that your employees could contribute much more than they already do by utilizing their talents. Recognize your employee’s skills and talents, and use them within your company. Rewarding them for their time would be an added bonus.

What Is C Programming?

There are a lot of students who are in for C# programming when they attend school. This is something that is taught in the first years of high school or even later or earlier, depending on what your options are when choosing the high school you will attend.

C# programming is basically a medium that stands between VB and C++. There will be many people that will consider that the ability of C# running in a managed environment is a good advantage. But this really has to do with each person. When it comes to comparing it with C++, you will never have to worry about the points and the memory management that maybe, you had the chance to encounter while studying and using C++. But you should keep in mind that it has been proven the fact that managed code is usually slower.

The big list of advantages that you will get to have while using C# programming are not due to C#, but because it is fully dependant on the.NET framework. You will have an easy time writings Windows dialogs, working with strings, making multithreaded apps, forms and so on.

There are two reasons that stand in my mind when I am to think about the advantage of C# and the fact that it has nothing to do with managed code. The first one is that there are no header files. The second one is keyword “partial”. Declaring a class as one, you will be able to split a lengthy source file into multiple files. Using “partial”, will have the compiler aware of the fact that you want to declare the exact class in multiple files and when the compile time will come, it will merge them into 1 class. This is definitely one of the best advantages that the users will benefit from.

When Is the Best Time to Look for a New Job?

The old adage follows that the best time to look for a job is when you already have one. While this may still hold true, the reality of today’s economic climate dictates that many excellent candidates are finding themselves unemployed and in the midst of a job search. There are pros and cons to both classifications of candidates – those who are employed and those who are not, when it comes to identifying your next career opportunity. What I have found over the years as a Recruiter is that no matter what your motivation for seeking a new opportunity, preparation and attitude are key.

As a Girl Scout Leader, our motto is “Be Prepared”! You should always have an updated resume with your current position ready to send out, even if you are not really looking. The chance that you have been waiting for to break into a new role may be a phone call away, and if the opportunity presents itself, you will need to move quickly. In addition to having your resume ready to go, be sure to have a current list of professional references. Ask for a letter of recommendation whenever you transition from one department, role or company to another. In cases where whole departments have been downsized or disbanded, be sure to stay in touch with managers and co-workers so that they are reachable when you need them. The current workforce is a very dynamic environment, so keep an updated list of references and contact information.

Timing in all phases of considering a new role will be critical. Candidates who are not currently employed will have an obvious advantage with schedule flexibility and availability when it comes to the interview process. Candidates who are employed will have to ask themselves if they are committed to the interview process, and prepared to take the time to interview prior to engaging in a search.

Generally speaking, considering a new role while you are gainfully employed will give you the opportunity to evaluate and compare your current situation with the new opportunity. If you are unemployed, it may be tempting to accept the first job offer that comes your way; however, you need to think like a candidate who is employed so that you don’t end up in the wrong role. Ask yourself the same questions an employed candidate would consider. Will your skills be best utilized in this role? Will your one, five, and ten-year goals be met by joining this organization? Are you staying on track with your compensation history and goals? In the long run, taking the time to honestly evaluate an opportunity will benefit you both financially and career-wise.

Cover Letters Are Necessary!

Resume Cover Letters are an important addition when submitting your resume. It’s common for most job seekers to omit the cover letters on their resume submission. I advise you to have one if you’re directing your resume to a targeted company or recruiter.

1. Research target company-Use the title and name of the targeted company Human Resources or manager you’re writing to. If that’s not possible” whom it may concern” is less effective but still works.

2. Brevity of content-Short is the best way to approach a cover letter. Identify your skills and experience and how they satisfy the needs of the position. These company requirements can be found in the posted job description off the internet, their web site or newspaper.

3. Give explanations-If you need to address something in your work or schooling past experience, this is the place to address these issues.

4. Remember the objective-Keep your letter focused on why you are qualified for the position. It’s intent to secure an interview with the targeted company or individual. The cover letter is the calling card to peak their interest not to get a job, that’s the objective of the interview.

5. Proof read-correct grammar and misspelled words or your effort will probably in vein. These issues are most likely to terminate your opportunities with this employer. There is zero tolerance from employers for sloppy work. Follow these simple rules when drafting your cover letter.
