Flipping Websites Flipping Websites
In the vastness that is online business ideas, one of my absolute favorites is website flipping starting from scratch. It is one of the easiest to do and has virtually no ongoing aspect. I will walk you through what I typically do. This is by no means the only way, but it has been working for me. I first do my keyword research; this is probably the most important part. Find a keyword, or phrase that is searched for and has little competition. For the sakes of this article I will give a real world experience of my last flip. I chose the keyword online business ideas at this time there are 4400 is EXACT searches. This is a good number. I then trot over to Google and put “online business ideas” in the search box. Include the quotations. It shows that are 110000 is competing pages/sites. Also pretty descent. I generally try to choose a keyword/phrase over 1000 exact, and less than 300000 in competition.
Next, try to find an exact match domain, as they “tend” to rank higher, although I have had some rank higher without exact name, it is definitely helpful. Make sure the choices are.com, .net, and at the farthest.org. I have had some success with.info and. us as it indicates a bit more targeted audience, but I wouldn’t take any chances if you are just staring out. After you find a good match, it is time to purchase the name and find some hosting. There are tons of hosting companies out there to choose from, just do a bit of research and find what fits.
After the name and hosting have been purchased you have a decision to make…blog, or traditional site? If you are just starting out, or have no coding experience I would choose a blog, most hosting companies make it super easy to install a Word Press blog, find and update themes and add content, with a traditional site, like most of mine, it’s a bit harder as you have to know code and how to upload to server. For all practical purposes for this we choose blog.
Now it is time to add some content, normally a few articles will suffice. Obviously the more the better generally, as it gives the reader more things to read on the site, a bit more info on the topic you choose and a place to come back to for future info. Submit your article to article databases, EzineArticles, being one of the many I use. After the content is uploaded it is time to drive traffic, but one more thing to do first is sign up for Ad Sense, any other ad network or all of them. The more the merrier. The more ad choices you have rolling the more possible income there is. You may be thinking, “Wait, I’m going to sell the site, why would I want to make money with it”? Most people won’t buy sites that don’t have some sort of verifiable income. They don’t want a sight that can’t make money, that’s not saying there isn’t anyone who would buy a non-monetized site, but it lessens the pool of potential buyers.
